Election time is a week away. As I reported yesterday, record lines are expected next Tuesday at the polls. Early voting in Georgia has reported some places having up to a 2+ hour wait for early voting. It will definitely be interesting to see what the final numbers are next week. With the enthusiasm building up to the end of the general election, I figured I would look at what are the state policies for time off for voting. As well Google has emphasized the “Vote Hour” campaign on their blog. And yes, there is a video too!
The map itself is a basic full screen Google map that suffers from a lack of a distinctive legend. Besides that issue, clicking on a state or selecting a state in the left content pane results in a dialog pop up, describing the states stance on voting time off policies with clickable links for additional information.
The Google backed “Vote Hour” campaign basically is a bipartisan independent group of CEOs that has come forward to encourage people to take an hour from work and to go and vote. They have a full campaign encouraging companies to sign up, recognizing that they will give their employees an hour to vote. Read the full posting here[^]. The video is basically a bunch of CEO’s repeating the same message, but it is short and it contains the Trump.
The Google policy Map can be viewed here [^] and the Google post can be viewed here[^]. As I have said in previous postings please feel free to leave me your thoughts or interpretations in the comments, and please check back as I will be adding additional content to this series soon.
